About Miriam

Miriam Kamil is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Hamilton College, where she teaches undergraduate courses in Greek and Latin languages, literature, and civilizations. She earned her PhD from Harvard University in May, 2022 with a dissertation titled, “Personification and Emotion in Ovid’s Metamorphoses.” Her dissertation was advised by Richard F. Thomas, with additional supervision by Richard J. Tarrant, Greg Nagy, and Barbara W. Boyd.

Her research interests include Roman poetry, especially epic and elegy, as well as Greek literature, textual transmission, and modern queer receptions of classical literature. She is also part of the Dartmouth-based “From Troy to Baghdad” project, through which she leads book groups with combat veterans.
